The temple of the Tooth

 The temple of the tooth is one of the most important place I have ever visited.This is located in the Kandy district.Sri lanka is based on the fact that is safe keeps a tooth of the buddah.The sacred relic was brought to Sri Lanka by princess Hemamala and prince Dantha from the city of Kalinga in ancient India during the reign of Keerthi Sri Meghavana.

Majority of sinhala people who are Buddhist in the country call this tooth relic temple as Dalada Maligawa.

The temple which carries a lot of value to buddhist all over the world also has immense cultural value.The architecture is of unique kingdom aarchitectural style with a combination of the unique style used to build the Dalada Mandira the shrines which housed the sacred Tooth relic previously in other kingdoms. 

 The temple which is venerated by thousands of local and foreign devotes and tourists daily was named as a world heritage by UNESCO in 1988.

 So we must protect such places of cultural value.It is our absolute duty.
